Arsenal have made a final decision over the preferred striker target, with Viktor Gyokeres coming out on top ahead of Victor Osimhen. It means the Gunners could step up their pursuit of the Sporting forward in the coming weeks, who is currently available for an £85million release clause. Arsenal have also been linked with Riccardo Calafiori, who is also of interest to Chelsea.
The Blues announced the signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall on Tuesday, a day after confirming the arrival of Barcelona youngster Marc Guiu. It is a fifth summer addition after Tosin Adarabioyo, Estevao Willian and Omari Kellyman and Chelsea are now being linked with a huge move for Spain's Euro 2024 star Nico Williams.
Manchester United's transfer business is picking up, with Bayern Munich defender Matthijs De Ligt and Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee key targets. Tottenham announced £30m Archie Gray as their second summer signing on Tuesday, while West Ham saw a first bid for Jean-Clair Todibo rejected by Nice. Riccardo Calafiori to Arsenal update
More now on Arsenal’s interest in Riccardo Calafiori.
The Gunners have emerged as major players in the race to sign Bologna’s highly-rated Italy defender this summer.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal have presented a long-term proposal to Calafiori, who is open to a move to the Emirates Stadium.
He adds that the 22-year-old is one of three defender targets approved by Mikel Arteta, with Arsenal having a good relationship with Bologna after the signing of Takehiro Tomiyasu from the Serie A club back in 2021.
However, there has still been no official bid tabled and Chelsea apparently remain in talks too and are willing to offer players in part-exchange.

Bayern strike Joao Palhinha deal after year-long saga
Bayern Munich have agreed a deal worth up to £47.5million to sign Joao Palhinha, in what would be a club-record sale for Fulham, writes Standard Sport’s Dom Smith.
The Bavarian giants had already made two bids this summer — including one worth £29.7m — but Fulham stuck to their valuation of the player and rejected both.
Now, though, Bayern have made a breakthrough, having struck a deal worth an initial £43.2m plus a further £4.3m in performance-related add-ons.
The deal would beat Fulham’s previous record sale, set last summer when striker Aleksandar Mitrovic joined Saudi club Al-Hilal for £45m.
